"Stavlaft" - is a combination of frame and log house
"Stavlaft" in Norway is quite common wooden house construction, whose structure is a log home and frame combination. the ground floor wall corners are made of massive hand cuted pillars, filled up with frame walls in between of them, and the upper part of the house is build like a traditional log house. Stavlaft house gives the customer more options of inside finishing if to compare to the log house. In stavlaft there will be log walls in the upper floor, but anything else in the ground floor - different types of panels, gyps, plates, wall paper etc. In addition stavlaft walls are more windproof than log construction, giving at the same time better U value
